Julian's Age

37???? Did anyone see this AND "Supernova"????? In both of them, Spader's character is the only one whose age is mentioned and in both of them the character is somewhat younger than him-at-the-time of filming. I don't know how much over the stated age of 32 he was when they filmed "Supernova", but I doubt it was filmed in 1992/3. The director's commentary on "Alien Hunter" says it was filmed in Feb/March 2002, which would make him either 42 or just a few days off his 42nd birthday depending.

Why???

Hi again, Radiant Rose. I've seen both, and liked them both, but I never thought about Spader's age. Come to think of it, if I had to guess his age I'd be at a loss. It's kind of funny to me that he looks younger and more handsome in movies than on talk shows. Of course, that's my own take on things.

I liked both of them too. How old are the films and how recent are the talk shows? I have not seen him on talk shows and probably won't unless he comes to the UK to promote something. I don't necessarily want to see him on talk shows. I have enough trouble with people I do know, let alone fretting about the reality of people whom I will probably never meet.

reply

Oops, I misspoke. I don't like talk shows, either. In fact, I'm probably the only person on the planet who generally avoids Oprah on purpose, and I absolutely hate Dr. Phil. yech!

I meant to say late-night shows like David Letterman, Jay Leno and (when I can tolerate him) Conan O'Brien (sp?). All Spader interviews would be in the last year, two just recently, though they may have been re-runs of earlier shows.

That last paragraph looks like a contradiction to anyone who knows me; I've said I dislike the comedians' monologues because they turn into unfunny Comic's Court situations, but I'll tune in late if I'm in the mood.

NB his real life age is the same as the number of credits he has on imdb.com, unless they have added another since last week. This excludes guest appearances and the audio book that he narrated.

reply

Really? LOL ... what a hoot! Hey, that's a milestone he might be interested in knowing. If you have IMDbPro you could send a note to his agent.

Oh dear. I have now bumped his credits up by persuading the rather formidable robots at this site to list "Greasy Lake", which is on a compilation of 4 short films available on VHS (American, but will play on a UK VCR marked "NTSC Playback" if it is connected to the TV via SCART, or if the TV and VCR are both connected to a freeview box via SCARTs) tape. Tape is called "The Discovery Program: Short Stories" and amazon.com Z-shops had copies when I last checked.
