Iran Castillo, Sherlyn, Francesca Guillen, Marga Magana, Adamari Lopez

It's become common practice for producers to lump their "teen novela" stars together. Oddly, many of them have crossed paths during their careers.

Iran Castillo and Sherlyn both appeared in Luis de Llano's "Agujetas de Color de Rosa" (1995), in the film "La Segunda Noche" (2000), and in "Clase 406." Castillo, likewise, appeared alongside Francesca Guillen in "Agujetas," "Confidente de Secundaria"(1996), "La Segunda Noche," and in "Locura de Amor"(2000).

Guillen's own career has also involved a lot of co-starring roles with Adamari Lopez: "Sin Ti"(1997), "Camila"(1998), and "Locura de Amor." The latter role was one of Guillen's most poignant performances (as the disabled high school girl). After her performance as the drug addicted teen in "Sin Ti" and her "Locura" role, I thought Guillen was on her way to more prominent roles. Unfortunately, she seems to have fallen victim to the bad girl/villain typecast that has often plagued her career; she's currently playing Leonardo's avenging angel on "Clase 406."

For the sake of really strange trivia, Lopez worked with Marga Magana in "Camila," and Castillo is currently working with Magana in the new series that also stars Valentin Lanus. (Castillo had previoulsy worked with Magana when the two briefly co-hosted an afternoon talk show a couple a years ago. I never saw it, I just read about it.)

What do these three ladies all have in common? Oddly, they were all loves of actor Mauricio Islas. Magana was with him during their appearance in "Mi Pequena Traviesa" (1997) and Castillo during their starring roles in "Preciosa"(1998). Lopez never starred with Islas in any novela; they met through mutual friends. Anyway, I just thought that is a tiny bit of extremely interesting if not strange trivia.
