Sara Maldonado recently appeared on stage in the theatrical version of "The Graduate." Like you said, Jose Alberto Castro recently announced that Sara was going to play Rubi in his new version of the novela; Fanny Cano played Rubi in the first version and Iran Eroy played the same part in the 1970 movie.
Unfortunately, although I do like Sara Maldonado, I might not watch the new version simply because I heard that Castro wants to cast Sergio Goyri as the leading man. Sorry if I'm the only person who thinks this, but Sergio Goyri is a horrible actor. He's good at making all those violent action movies he used to be in, but he's no leading man. What makes it worse is that actors who have been better at playing leading men (Arturo Peniche and Saul Lizauso) are not being used anymore because they're supposedly too old. Goyri is just as old as they are; however, Goyri probably has friends among the producers, which insures that he'll keep getting leading man roles. He would have to rely on producer friends, because as an actor he's just terrible.
Sara was good in "Clase 406," although I thought that she was much better in "Juego de la Vida."
Personally, I've already said this, but my favorite of the students was Karla Cossio (Sandra Paola). I read on another message board that she is the sister of the guy who plays Freddy, but that's all I know about her. If you know anything about her, please post it here. I just love her.
I would have preferred that Caballo and her ended up together, but unfortunately Pedro Damian or the writers (or maybe both) wanted him to end up with Pili. Pili is cute, but Karla (Sandra Paola) is radiantly beautiful. Moreover, another reason I like her is because, unlike the other extremely thin girls on the show, Karla is attractively plump. Hopefully she doesn't lose weight since anorexia-thin is the current trend. She's perfect the way she is.
