You're right, Pierrino, and here's some proof of its DVD release date on April, 7th 2009: http://www.amazon.com/Uncle-Nino-Joe-Mantegna/dp/B001TGU6IK/ref=sr_1_2 ?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1235375205&sr=1-2

I have been wanting to see this movie when I read the first reviews a year or two ago. I had reserved it through my Netflix queue and finally the announcement that it would be available April 7, 2009 was great news to hear.

The movie was wonderful. Very heartwarming, and to my heart the character Uncle Nino certainly stole the show. My two favorite scenes were the first one in the beginning of the film, showing Uncle Nino bottling his gift bottle of homemade wine to bring to his nephew and family he was going to visit in America, and sharing his breakfast table with his two pet dogs. Just adorable. My other favorite scene was the one showing the son and daughter with their friends (and daughter's much wanted new dog) in the kitchen with Uncle Nino having a family-together time making pizza and bringing togetherness and good times to the kids. We need more movies like this. Very heartwarming.

I see that Pierrino Mascarino has starred in a number of movies and TV shows. Shucks, I missed those (I may have seen him in the Raymond series but just didn't know about his future connection with the Uncle Nino movie.

The only disappointing moment was at the end of the film when Joe Montegna and his daughter were interviewed and talked about the movie. I wish they had also interviewed Mr. Mascarino, or even, at least, brought him into the conversation, since I felt he was a major part of the film's "heart." Anne Archer was my next favorite character and played the part with charm, grace and quiet love of her family. Great role models, both!

Sincerely,
Lizzie R.

I am glad to see this movie finally out. I really enjoyed it and now have a copy of it so I can watch it whenever. I hope those who haven't seen it yet get that chance. It's one you don't want to pass up. Well done to the whole cast a crew for bringing a rare movie to life.

Thanks Lizzie. The producer and director hate me because I did the work promoting the film they could not and would not do. Shame on them.
