It's been 8 years since RESURRECTION OF THE LITTLE MATCHGIRL tanked at the box office. Surely this director can't STILL be so reviled that he can't get a project into development? Anyone hear any news about a comeback. Than man's got talent, as MATCH GIRL proved in spurts, and his previous films proved in spades. Or has he simply moved on to other things?
shareI don't think any film industry would touch the director of a botched 'highest-budgeted movie of the country'. I can see how it might lack mass appeal, so I think Jang Woo-sung is in desperate need of 'friends in high places'
OR he can just resort to Ed Wood-esque measures. No Bela Lugosi, though.
Not sure if you are still looking for an answer to this, but he did disappear from Korean film industry.
The man's quite legendary though. His previous films were shocking at the time and his big ambitious project is still one of the biggest ever flop in Korean film industry.
I found an article that dates back to 2009 where it says he's residing in Jeju Island (biggest island in Korea) and is a professor there.
