How is this movie rated so low??

I truly believe from an adult standpoint this was one of the best animated movies ever. Good characters, great story, the humor is actually funny, and I was truly entertained from start to finish.

I wish they'd make a sequel.

The reason it's rated so low is because Pixar didn't make it. But screw them this was funny.

 pretty sure its rated low because its crap, all 3D movies look alike now so who can tell the difference if its pixar or not, especially kids? you think kids are arguing at school "yeah it was great, too bad its not pixar"?

plus pixar isn't even pixar anymore its disney, bunch of sellouts

anyone come to the conclusion the movie got low ratings because its crap? like all these kids/family movies, the blame is always put on the wrong person

example "the amazing spiderman2', all electro wanted was to be acknowledged, no wealth, no popularity, just to be noticed, do you know how it feels to be bullied? instead of spiderman feeling sorry for him, he locks electro up like a freak. He gets a second chance to do right, what does he do? murder elctro. Then he has the nerve to wonder why a bad outcome happened in the end i.e gwen dying. No offence but this is why school shootings occur i.e BULLYING!!

in this its the same, the blame put on the wrong person

when you think about it its the raccoons fault, he was the one STEALING peoples stuff, INCLUDING the bear(vincent) seriously?? is that what you're gonna teach kids? stealing or "doing wrong" is ok as long as you "FEEL" bad about it? oh wait he didn't feel bad. I mean he stole the bears food that he needed for hibernation

society REALLY needs to understand morals, its like that adult parody movie "not another teen movie" where the jock and the guy (who loves his bestfriend) chases the girl (main character) and they mock movie cliches guy goes "i'm the best friend" (i think thats what he said) and the jock goes "yes but i'm the guy who did wrong and now have mended my ways" (approx. what he said) and the other guy (bestfriend) goes "oh yeah"

lol really? the bestfriend should have a bigger chance since his been there for the girl since they were kids, the jock bangs alot of women and is a total scumbag, treating woman like sex objects, but suddenly because he SUPPOSEDLY learns his lesson and ACTUALLY has feelings for the GOOD girl he deserves the girl? so what? his still gonna bang her AND why are we forgetting why his doing what his doing? because he learnt a lesson?

this is the same, RJ did wrong, and instead of learning his lesson decides in the end to take ALL, uses his new friends that he duped from the beginning to attack the humans and the bear. All the humans wanted were to keep the suburb safe and all the bear wanted was justice. All these dumb kids movies that preach morals/ethnics DON'T even come close to it and offer some perverted sense of teachings to kids

I knew the difference when I was a kid and this came out.

Agreed, Pixar is not what it used to be.

anyone come to the conclusion the movie got low ratings because its crap? like all these kids/family movies, the blame is always put on the wrong person

You ever think that that just your opinion? Besides, every Pixar film has rarely, if ever, been critically panned( I'm looking at you Cars).

This is precisely why I prefer Dreamworks to Pixar, don't you understand? The reason why you can't find a good morally/ethical message to the movie is because...wait for it...there isn't one! Blame the Amazing Spider-Man on bad writing, and I've never seen the other movie you were talking about, but regarding animated films I hate that there also has to be some morally righteous message, I don't know about you, but when I was a kid I could care less about the message the movie was trying to deliver, I mean if kids can't tell the difference between Pixar and Dreamworks who cares about the message?

Too many animated movies these days focus on delivering a message *cough* Inside out *cough. As a kid I just wanted to watch an entertaining movie thus why I like this movie more than say Brave or anything else Pixar makes recently. I will say that Dreamworks has also lost their touch so I don't watch many animated movies these days, which is why I'm here to remember the "good old days".

I thought the trailer looked so stupid when I first saw it that I avoided seeing this movie for a while, but upon seeing it the movie was actually very good.

I remember back then, a lot of studios tried to follow Pixar. Most films were just the same or just old stuff done again. Same here for Over the Hedge, the movie felt so much like cartoon shows I watched back in the 80s, I was grown out of it and saw the gags all. When I watched it, it was basically this, but surprisingly competently done. Still, nothing remarkable except the coffee addicted squirrel.

Another issue was Open Season, which is definitely the worse movie but shares a lot of themes with this movie. I still have issues to separate this movie correctly.

Edit: Ahh, also Ice Age 2 overshadowed in that year EVERYTHING animated.
