Jimmys wife was a REAL woman!!

I love her and how she stands behind her man's actions no matter what they are. Unlike Dave's wife who ratted him out and caused his death. Jimmys wife was great.

She was the most despicable character in the entire movie.

Actually dave's wife was the reason the whole movie plot made sense and closed the circle. It was shown how both women differ in their acts and the consequences of it .
One(celeste) destroyed the husband who suffered abuse and was innocent more or less, and other women (annabeth) knew his husband to be guilty of murdering and other crimes , but made sure he don't succumb to guilt and keep loving his two other daughters.

Great movie but very flawed in the telling. The worst being the cops, who never thought to do a D.N.A. test on the O type blood in Davr's trunk which was the same type as Kattie's. It almost ruins the movie for me. Also the cops neglect in not figuring out the obvious that it could be Ray Jr. who did it. After all they knew fairly early that the gun was Ray Sr. and Brenden had aced the polygraph. The fact that they realize at the end that it was the shooters who called in the 911, means little, and in and of itself does not point to the younger brother. They had known all along that she knew her attackers when they found out she had said " hi " to them, another reason to have suspected the young brother all along !

The film was set in 2000 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mystic_River_(film)). Even in 2014, it took at least 14 days to process DNA (https://newatlas.com/rapid-dna-testing/15950/). The real flaw is in the killers' phone call. Why on earth would the guilty parties call the police and inform them of the crime?
