The boy in the striped pyjamas [SPOILERS]

I'm surprised no one has brought this up (or maybe some one did in another post and I missed it, it deserves its own thread anyways) but the resemblance is undeniable. They are basically the same story in a different setting. Even the end has the same situation were ultimately the sons end up being victims of their fathers. I am the only person who realized this? I am well aware that the novel "The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas" was released in 2007, whilst the "I'm not scared" novel was released in 2001. I enjoyed both however.

Actually, I noticed it too. I said to my friend, "It's like a combination of Pan's Labyrinth and The Boy In The Striped Pajamas". All three have naive children who don't understand the mature world in which their cruel parents inhabit, so they make up tales to compensate for their naivety. The endings are rather similar too. I still enjoyed them all.

i had the same thoughts, "the boy in the striped pyjamas" meets "the reflecting skin".
