Not enough back story on the triangle

I kept thinking there was not enough back story on the triangle. I could not remember how they hooked up and why she even slept with him. She seemed to be falling for him in just a short amount of time. What was her story with her and her husband?

maybe I've just seen too much TV/Movies but with just the 'pool scene' at the start they pretty much established a 'three best friends' kind of thing...
