Stupid part in movie, well one of the unrealistic parts.

Anyone notice the *beep* in these scene.
When Smoke and Kid are racing each other at the end on the gravel track. Their doing over 150 miles per hour and they rapidly stop on gravel? If your doing 20 miles an hour on gravel you need 30 yards to stop..

what i want to know is, why the hell would the race on a gravel road?

reply

what i want to know is, what the hell were they thinking when they made this movie

reply

Oh yeah and another thing, if you're going over a 150mph, why the hell weren't either of those guys tucked? Sons of beeyatches got their heads sticking up during the whole race.

reply

thats just another aspect of this movie that is totally wrong. This movie is so unrealistic and horrible, that i'm ashamed to say i've seen it.

reply

maybe the speedo is in km?

reply

The speedo being in km/h wouldn't make much of a difference given how they managed to stop. Also both riders should have been tucked if they knew what they were doing. However, the film is clearly made for none riders (although I still enjoyed it) and hence as film fans rather than bike fans enjoy the movie for what it is rather than picking faults with it.

As always I apologise for my poor grammar' speeling and use of RanDOm cAPitaLS

I saw this god awful film on tv a few days ago, its almost as bad as Torque. I cringed at most of the rediculous stunts the bikers did. One of the most rediculous scenes in the film was when "Kid" and the token white guy told a random guy to keep up with them in order to see if he was good enough to team up. They decided to jump off the sides of the bikes, dragging their metal clad soles of their feet along the floor, causing sparks to fly. I was just sat in amazement thinking whats the *beep* point of that. All the way through the film i was longing for the bikers to fall off whilst they were doing their rediculous ego inflating stunts, it was very satisfying when "Kid" (what a name) cocked up and crashed his ass into a barrier when he was racing his dad, "smoke" (jesus wept). This film is god awful.

I feel better for getting that off my chest, then theres the race at the end which was equally as rediculous, if you were wanting to race someone and your whole future depended on it you would tuck yourself to reduce drag, not keep your head raised up, set of tools.

Laurence Fishburne must have been really bored or desperate to have anything to do with this oh so poor film.

Shaun

Anyone else want to make a comment on the terrible over the top stunts?

P.S Remember to "burn rubber, not the soul", get it tattooed on your chest so you dont forget.

reply

Its nothing to do with "EGO" thats the kinda shiat me and my mates get upto every night Wheelies, Endos, Superman, Skitching, Burnouts, Racing its the adrenaline rush you get from it you dont even notice the people around you cheering Etc.

And as for the stoping distance needed lol yep i can vouch for that i was racing once and noticed the police at 110mph braked hard to take a left and scarper (The corner was about the same distance as the barrier was away from them) and i dident manage to get the bike to stop in this short distance ... Applying the brakes that hard caused the back wheel to lock and swing round to the right.

The bike kept going down the road and i woke up in hospital two days later with the police there :( the bike was 15 meters down the road with now no fuel tank, no exhaust, no head light or wing mirrors ... they had all been ripped of when the bike skidded down the road.

i see this is a rather old post. but to call stunts in this movie unrealistic..you must not ride a bike.

WATCH THE SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE MOVIE AND YOU WILL SEE THE STUNTS ARE BEING DONE REALISTICALLY BY ACTUAL PEOPLE AND NOT DIGITALIZED.

i ride and can do a lot of the things done in this movie. it takes a lot of practice and some money because you are going to *beep* up ur bike a little bit, but anything is possible and again most if not all these stunts are real. learn a bit about bikes before your throw that out.

as far as the gravel and dead stopping. i agree That is a little unrealistic. like i said i ride, i use to live in Iowa and i have went down on the gravel roads there. as far as stopping on a dime even on pavement is hard in the first place because its not like a car where ya can hit the brakes. hit the back brake and you back end kicks out n ur down, front brakes ur front end is going to wash out or youre going to end up doing an accidental stoppie or just plain ass face plant. but im sure im sayin *beep* everyone knows.

dont mean to come off as a dick. its just i have seen this movie with people who too have said the stunts are unreal so i have to show them you can do this *beep* in real life...

now torque on the other hand, i dont know anyone who can do 100mph+ and out run a gasoline trail on fire, and jumped cars, etc. that *beep* is unreal

googboog,

sorry if i miss directed my post. i was more aiming at "youliketoplay" or whatever his name was.

he stated something along the lines of what *beep* it was when they jumped off the sides of the bike and how the stunts in this were almost as bad as torque. yet 90% of the stuff in this film are true stunts...even if they are at 20mph rolls. versus torque where a whole 2%-5% of the movie is real stunts...really i can only think of 2 scenes inparticular.

again, i was directing my post more towards the comments of skitching, wheelies, and stoppies.

as far as stand-ups...im crazy but not crazy enough to try one. ill do most anything else.

Everybody know that the basic "stunts" and show-offs can be DONE. It's just they can't be done the way they are presented in this movie. Perfect example is the above where the guy stands on his seat. Everyone has seen that ad naseum, but not at the "supposed" speed. That same scene has a slow-mo shot at the end of the race where it's TOO obvious how slow they are actually going. Aw hell, it was all silly. I have nothing against people who enjoy riding, but the cooler-than-thou people on this board is rediculous(sic).

Commenting about what you said with the sliding off the side of the bike, I have personally seen this done. Stunt bikers do it often to be honest.

From a film making perspective, the movie did have a very good feel to it. Compared to those of the later Fast and the Furious films and Torque (which was purposely meant to be the cheeziest bike movie. Watch the commentary the director is laughing at the ridiculousness throughout the film) This film is decent in my opinion. It does have a few "over the top parts," but it's a racing film, how do you avoid it? The cinematography was very cool from my perspective. The 3 minute intro shot was very well coordinated and timed well and the long shots with the Cameraman on rollerblades were also very cool. The entire bridge scene when the Biker Boyz come in and stunt for a few moments was very cool with it's camera moves. Some people don't like long shots but I personally know how hard they are and I love seeing them. If you want to see a cool one, watch Death Sentence and you will see what I'm talking about. The names were bad, but meh I know plenty of racers who have stupid nicknames in the same ballpark. In my opinion, this film avoids the flashiness and the pure eye candy material that F&F throws at you. It kept pretty true to the racing scene without making it boring.

I hate when people compare Torque to other racing films because I like it considering how terrible it is, it's entertaining. I laugh at all the stunts because they are meant to be outrageous and hilarious. The Transporter 2 has a few stunts in it that were meant to be jokes. I.E. Removing the bomb by doing a barrel roll with the car and scraping it off with a hook from a crane. As for other movies in the same ballpark as this. Fast and the Furious 1 is decent. I don't have too terribly much to knock on for that one, but the later 2 have plenty. Redline which had the same comedy as Torque was just terrible. The sad thing was that the film was trying to be serious. If I had to pick from any of the recent car/bike films out, this is up there. Now if we want to go back in time, trust me none of these would compare. Vanishing Point, Bullit etc... Plenty of factual errors yes, but as for it's entertainment value, Biker Boyz did very well.

reply

You compared this to Torque. You lose. This film had drama and soul searching involved, Torque had Ice Cube riding a motorcycle in traffic reading a map and a giant helmet phone. You lose.

Well, unlike the rest of you I thought that the movie was inspiring. It inspired me to log on to imdb and see if everyone else thought it was as bad as me.

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this stunt but towards the beginning when the 18, or 30 year old, "kid" (how amazingly clever by the way) jumps into the race with and then while doing flat out during a race he stands on his seat and stretches out his arms. He must be the strongest man alive. How the heck does he stay on the bike with all the wind forcing him off? I'm confused.

reply

if you are a rider like me please dont see this.its hollywood bs at its worse...too bad though,it could have been cool since it was a small budget movie

I liked Biker Boyz too, I don't see why there's much hate on it, Torque was supposed to be funny. This movie was good, had a great intro, story, characters and a great cast. Laurence Fishburne, Djmon Hounsou, Lisa Bonet, Derek Luke, Eriq LaSalle, Orlando Jones, Kadeem Hardison, even Kid Rock was good.
