Stupid overall series *spoilers*

As much as I enjoyed the characters and setting of the show, I couldn't get past the explanation of the Chobits.

Some super-powerful robots made as children to a woman who can't have kids? ever heard of adoption?

And what kind of sicko puts an on/off switch in his artificial daughters vagina?

So much that makes no sense, like how can a boy be so nervous of seeing a naked robot. Or why an advanced robot would use an RGB cord to connect to a TV. Or why a genius scientist would only create 2 of these incredible machines. But that's expected from a sci-fi series.

Totally agree. This show was directed at an older teen male audience apparently, which might explain the vagina thing. It's really not explained how the chobits have real emotions either. I was hoping that maybe they'd be part human. Oh well.

I enjoyed the first 2 manga books. I thought the premise was interesting, but it's not like I haven't seen "man falls in love with robot". I do now remember the switch being... in the 'switch'. That's definitely dirty... and CLAMP used to do Magic Knight Rayearth and Cardcaptor Sakura...

My posts make a lot more sense if you imagine them with my Australian accent

Wouldn't call it sexophobic. Just overly awkward around anything that pertains to sex and him. Seeing as he watched porn, apparently to a large extent, it wasn't sex that he had a problem with, but himself.

And wasn't one of the very first things Freya said to Chi, in the peepshow scene, that no one can touch her there except the one who she loves and who loves her back? It does not make sense that Ichaan's intent was for them to be eternal children, seeing as the chobits were made as fully grown women. I imagine if that was the case, that they really would've been modeled as children too. I always imagined the placement of the on-switch being a precaution rather than an absolute chastity belt.

Besides, the whole on-switch spiel is a plot hole in itself, seeing as she doesn't shut down when the peepshow guy touches her there, but goes berserk instead and jumps right through a wall, which further reinforces my theory.

i really think this was aimed at woman as much as men cos i totally understand it he put the button their so no one could have sex with his daughters and if they found love they knew it wasn't just for sex (another thing i think only women are understanding from this anime taking the responses on this post) i thought that was obvious. i think being a tech nerd he wanted to give his wife children that could live forever so his wife never had to feel the pain of losing a child i think its why it was so hard for them both with everything that happened with freya. i really dont think its not a hard concept to grasp true love where there is nothing that each wants but happiness for each other even if it means not having sex but hey this is just my opinion <3
