shareEhm, Berne IS north of the Alps...
sharedidnt see the movie, but the mountains are probly from the "Schwarzwald" - a German low mountain range in the south west - which would be along the Route from Essen to Bern.
Cheers
No, it's definitely supposed to be the Alps in the movie. It just doesn't make much sense.
shareUse google-maps for a second. Or... a book. Bern is located within the Alps (Hint : that's why the region is called Berner Oberland, "Bern Plateau" ). Coming from the north, that is Germany and Essen, you have to cross at least two lesser mountain ranges, both going up to 1600m and 1800m from the Rhine valley at 400m - 500m. Not the Alp's main ridge, whose passes lie another 1000m higher. Sothe mountainous valley is accurate within cinematic limits. The mountains shown look more like southern Austria/northern Italy.
And yes, no motorways yet.
