So, some of it was true?

I see Christian Taylor really was a writer for SFU in 2002. Was he really let go and then decided to do this mockumentary? How much of it was true? The whole thing seemed surreal and improbable but not necessarily impossible. I guess the least likely aspect is that any director would follow that guy around all summer to make a meaningful documentary.
