A stunning directorial debut that evokes classic surrealistic films from Eraserhead to Edward Scissorhands, Rhinoceros Eyes is the hallucinatory black comedy revolving around Chep (Michael Pitt), a young, reclusive prop-house employee who falls in love with a detail-obsessed movie production designer named Fran (Paige Turco). Fran’s need for authentic props sends Chep to great and questionable lengths as he tries to satisfy her requests, and ultimately…win her heart. Chep’s love-struck missions spur an investigation by Detective Phil Barbara (Gale Harold) as he is called to look into the disappearance of certain items. This highly original film combines animation and live action to create a world where fantasy and reality collide.

Rhinoceros Eyes premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2003 and won the prestigious Discovery Award. It is the first feature to emerge from Madstone Films pioneering Directors Program. This groundbreaking program is dedicated to empowering first-time feature filmmakers by supplying them with the tools, resources and support they need to realize their vision
