ANYONE SEEN THIS MOVIE YET?

SO HOW WAS IT?

reply

I saw it the other day... It was sweet little film, and quite enjoyable to watch - even if I didn't get into the sexy character so much as I was into Jonah Blechman (though not what his character did)! :)

I'm still not sure what to think about the incest stuff, though - I kind of think I should have a problem with it, and feel bad that I didn't... For instance when he was going around asking people "Is it incest to sleep with my cousin?" "What? Why do you ask?" "Meet my cousin, Jed" - I will admit I did giggle once or twice...

Wierd, I randomly came upon this movie while looking up one of the actresses. The director was one of my film teachers, and I believe he showed us a clip from this movie.

What "incest"? Two male cousins who don't even know each other? That's hardly going to make any idiot babies, and anyway, my first sex partners when I was 12 or so were both my first cousins. Big fat deal. I'll bet millions of gay boys and girls can say the same. Both of mine are married now, with kids. One's on his fourth marriage. Relax.

The Republican Plan: repeal all reform; collect payoffs; go yachting (but not in the Gulf).

Incest doesn't depend in any way, shape or form on whether the people concerned have children as a result, it's about close blood relatives (or adopted relatives who were raised as close family relatives) engaging in a sexual relationship... If what happened in your past was 100% consensual and nobody was emotionally hurt by what happened, then look, I don't judge you for it. But it is incest to have sex with family members, the definition doesn't change. All that being said, obviously it's nowhere near on the same level as parents and children, etc.

If you read my post, you can see that I wasn't getting judgemental or high-and-mighty about the characters in this film, what I said was that I was surprised I didn't feel more uneasy, and instead couldn't help but, for instance, laugh at the joke I mentioned in my post.

It was pretty cool. I really got into the main character played by Justin Herwick. I'd watch it over again just for him (and that nude scene at the end!) Some of the acting was good, some pretty bad. Storyline seemed a little absurd but it's entertainment, remember....not all movies are supposed to be believable.

I thought this was possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. Seriously. I read quite a bit about it when it was on the GLBT film festival circuit, and was disappointed when it didn't make it into our local film festival--because based on the description, it sounds kind of hot and compelling.

But man, it was the most contrived, poorly written, over-acted, incomprehensible film... trying to be so portentious, but everything rang hollow. So many continuity issues, so many things not explained, so little to make me understand or care about the motivations of the actors.... just really bad.

I guess if you are part of the culture it represents, maybe you'd like it. But otherwise.... man, can I get this 90 minutes of my life back??

This movie will gather a cult following in the years to come...
It edges on noir, artsy smartsy to realistic to absurd and has a lot of tragic comedic value. There's a lot to say about this film, and the themes it explores. La la la i loved it
