remake

I saw this film some time ago in EuropaEuropa. I remember I strongly hated the characters, almost all of them, mainly because of their self-centred behavior. Paul could be an exception, but he was too naiv, an easy target for disgrace. Maybe I'm totally wrong about these and all things I could say about the film, but never mind: it was pretty ok to me. The thing is I was longing for seeing it again, always on cable (I hate to see films on a desktop, for it's not compfortable, and I don't have a laptop or anything portable), but it was never available at all (EuropaEuropa, even after-midnight, stopped showing too-strong-themed films; "missing": Les Amants Criminels, Keller, The Garden of Earthly Delights, Son de Mar, among others). I saw the title on Cinemax (I don't remember the exact words in the sort of translation at the menu display, but the description said Daniel Bruehl was in it, besides the year matched, so it couldn't be wrong it was actually Was Nutz die Liebe in Gedanken), but when I started to watch it I had missed the titles, and the film on my TV was a very similar film but set in USA these days, so I refused to see it. I never checked the real name, any actor in it, nothing, so I ask: anyone knows if I could have been seeing a remake (even if I'm not interested in seeing it at all)?
