Why didn't Terry see a Gun in laracroft's hand?

this has bugged me for too long and hated the movie just because it looked like a lazy directional flaw that if the hands of Lara were not in the shot of the camera, Terry was standing in front of her and he would have a clear view of her hands if she has a gun or not.
My take is that since the up down laws of physics were not working in this place, Lara got the gun in her hands some how. but still, terry should have seen it in her hands.

can some one comment on this please.

I know it's a late answer, but anyways...:
I rewached the scene and i think the key is that the are both staring in eachothers eyes. I don't think it's possible for him to stand this close to her, look her in the eye AND have a look at her hands and the gun she might point at him. Maybe with good peripheral vision, but I still think it would be hard. Additionally he seems to be very confident to be the dominant one in this dispute, so why should he expect her to pull a gun on him, considering she had none when he hit her and she fell.
