Why is there no South Korean Hitchcock?

Horror is popular, I know. However, given the high technical quality (and feel for movie making) of these South Korean horror films, it seems odd that there is noone using these talents for something other than horror films.

I'm sure "Hayanbang" will delight right-to-lifers. However, it is..in my humble opinion...a really terrible waste of talent and skill.
