But this LAME film is all about childstars that are *beep* up,
right?? As in "they suffered trauma" from being in a commercial
or thinking they were a child when they were 21 years old.
I've often wodnered this many times. Has anybody involved with the productione ver commented on this? It's been a long time since I last watched the movie with commentary, but I don't think anything was explained there.
I think playing a teenager counts as being a "child star" because Ernest Thomas was 28 when he played 16/17 year old Raj in "What's Happening!!"

While I agree that he clearly wasn't a child star, The OPs statement that "he" thinks he was is ridiculous. He didn't walk onto the set and claim he was a child star and insist on being in the movie. For some strange reason the producers, casting or someone approached him. Someone higher up (not himself) considered him a child star. I am sure he was just happy for the work and didn't argue it.

According to his bio, Conaway worked acted on Broadway and modeled as a child. I know it's a stretch, but maybe that's what got him the gig?
