Wait, I missed it- What happened t o Miles + Tiger?

I was a little fuzzy as to what Miles was trying to tell Adam at the hospital. Did he kill Tiger? Did Tiger kill himself? please help!

He left explicit letters laying around. Homosexuality was illegal at the time.

Miles was going to be arrested for being gay based on letters Tiger had left lying around somewhere. Miles was trying to leave quickly for France to avoid being arrested. I believe it was against the law to be homosexual in England right up until the 1960s. For shame!

Tiger left incriminating evidence (letters, if I remember correctly, billets-doux) against Miles, which could lead to the latter's arrest for gross indecency.

It was quite smartly done: Tiger's last name is La Bouchere. And the whole incidence refers to the Labouchere Amendment from the Victorian Era which meant people could be imprisoned for gross indecency (incl. sodomy). I think it was abandoned in the sixties.

I was wondering about this as well. Was Tiger still upset about the race car and purposely framed Miles, or were Tiger and Miles lovers and Tiger accidentally left the letters?

I assumed that he did it on purpose. I didn't notice the Labouchere allusion, thanks for that. I gather that it was customary for rich gay people to be tipped off by the police so that they could flee to France if they wanted to.
