Mentally-challenged siblings...

Who were the two young actors who played the mentally-challenged siblings? I could not find their names anywhere in the credits and do not recall their characters' names from the series. I was curious as to whether they were really brother and sister and if they were truly mentally challenged.

I thought they did a great job and wanted to send them a little recognition through this site, but can't figure out who they are. They deserve alot of credit, whether they are challeged and managed those parts as well as they did, or are not challenged and presented themselves as such as well as they did.

If anyone can figure this out, please let me know! Thanks!

Abel was played by Brandon Bauer, Christa was played by Jennifer Cunningham. It's listed in the credits when you look this miniseries up on this site.

Irishlass - the two actors have Down Syndrome, a genetic condition which affected persons may have varying degrees of "mental challenges" but often have very serious metabolic and cardiac disorders. Some persons - like my cousin - are as capable as most "normal" people but will have the distinctive facial characteristics of DS.

I work with people who are born with the syndrome of Down, and found them exceptionally interesting people, some of them possessing a lot more wisdom then the average neurotyppical person.

thanks, henner. i was thinking the same thing when i saw this post. i know people mean no harm when they throw around this term, but it is kind of annoying that most people don't know enough about down syndrome to differentiate it from mental illness or "challenges".

They slept in a bed together.. I felt they might be friends, or even lovers. But that doesn't matter to the story. They could have even been brother and sister.

Their disability seemed to be the reason they were connected to the Black Voices of Swedenborgian space.
