Probably one of the worst set of 3 films I have ever seen. Well, I've only watched Memories and The Wheel, and that was enough. I just dont want to see this set on my shelf any-longer I'm that dissapointed with it. Even the packaging is as cheap as they come. My 5 year old HP deskjet printer could produce better quality dvd case covers than the ones on these.
Overal; directing was good, stories, well.. by the time I've finished writing this small report I will have forgotten about them. A.K.A you can't flog a dead horse; unless it's for glue. And boy-o-boy these stories certainly belong with the rest of the horse sh**.
For fans of Asian short films, or short stories in general, check out; Three Extremes. Everything about the product kicks this dvd set in the teeth. Well worth your cash. <- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420251/
You missed the last episode, which is probably the one episode that' truly worth your time. "Going Home" is a powerful and beautiful film... I urge you to watch it.
I was referring to the collection as a whole. i.e The worst trilogy I own.
Hence the word "set".
Thank-you to the others. Typical that I miss out the only good film out of the three!. I will definately give it my time. But still, one good film out of three is'nt enough to recommend this set.
I work at blockbuster and I got this early. I loved Three Extremes, so I had to get this set. I didnt like the first 2...the first was less horror more thriller, and just didnt catch my interest...Wheel was just incredibly cheesy and I didnt like it, probally even less than the first.
Now out of the 5 stories i've seen, Dumplings, Cut, The box, Memories and the Wheel....Memories and the Wheel were the least favorite. My favorites being in this order.
Cut > Dumpings > The Box > Memories > the Wheel.
And thats saying alot, becuase I didnt like the box at all ^^.
Now, getting to the last story...Going home Wow! Great story! It definately saved this set. Being a CSR at blockbster, I can recommend this film based on the last one being the one to see. Great, suspenseful, and uplifting really! The story went from..."yea, hes crazy" to "Wait, maybe hes not" to "WAKE UP! I wanna see her wake up!". Now thats good storytelling to sway me soo much.
Then the end, was shown, and I was moved alot...it made me really sad...
This set as a whole, i'd give it a 7 out of 10, and thats because Going home is that good. These arent great horror stories, The wheel being the most horror and it sucked -_-a.
I would give the set a generous 6 out of 10. I loved the beginning of "Memories" but it didnt pay off in the end(6/10). "The Wheel" sounded interesting on paper but was in no way interesting at any point (4/10). "Going Home" was alright but I wasnt as interested in it as some of you were (6/10). I'd say I like both 'extremes' sets about even for different reasons
A shame that Lions Gate had to call "Three" "Three Extremes 2" also. -i agree
Eh?? you made a troll remark, therefor you are a troll. No other way about that.
My opinion is that if only one third of a purchase is good, then the purchase as a whole is a waste of money. What kind of an idiot are you to say that is stupid?!!!!
Simple yet nice try though..your comment's were too late..you made two worthless posts previous therefor what you say after that in relation to the film is void.
Try making conversation on you're first post instead of acting like a fool and wasting everyone's time. Maybe if people like you grew up and behaved properly; IMDB would'nt have such a bad reuputation.
I dont care if you liked the film or not, you clearly showed the kind of person you are by making that first pethetic comment. YOU = tr0ll, no matter how many different ways you try redeem your-self or say im stupid.
you really disliked "the box"? I personally loved it. I understand why most people dislike it , casue its slow paced and with todays generation of viewers if there arent explosions and gore, they consider it crap. One of the three short films that i saw(dumplings, the box, cut) i would have to say i am most dissapointed with parks "cut. When i first whatched it i thought it was amazing, ypical park stlye. but when i whatched it the second time i lost intrest quickly , it jsut did not appeal to me anymore. I noticed *beep* acting, the medicore story ...and below average direction. I was dissapointed. Although, park is still genius director and i cannot wait to see Lady Vengeance.
watch the third movie dude, it's miles better than the first two, please -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Y'know, evilwing....you may be right. I can't knock 3 Extremes because I just saw the contents of 3E 2! Apparently, Blockbuster has the sequel confused with the first one. After I started reading everyone's posts here, I was wondering why were the titles different from what I had seen?
I ignored 3E 2 and left it on the shelf because of hearing poor reviews of those who saw it. Somehow, Blockbuster got it backwards or someone before me rented both and didn't take the time to properly place them in their appropiate harnesses. That means the one back on the shelf is the one I shoud've rented. There's no difference on the discs either. Maybe it's a distribution mistake; I don't know...
There's still hope for me that the first one is better than this piece of crap was...
I thought the first episode was nothing special and used pretty standard "scare" techniques. The ending was actually kind of disappointing. "The Wheel" (as I mentioned in a previous post) was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE.
My expectations sank even further following the wheel...but much to my suprise, "Going Home" was very, VERY good. Funny thing is I thought to myself "how many ppl out there watched the first two and didn't bother viewing the gem of the 3 tales (especially since it follows the wheel!!)" You definitely need to go back and give "Going Home" a view. It's easily my favorite out of all 6 of the Three Extreme tales.
It's pretty disappointing overall, though "Going Home" makes up for the first two films. The first "3 Extremes" was much better. "Memories" 6/10 "The Wheel" 5/10 "Going Home" 7/10 Overall score 6/10
