Why did Benny have a bloody nose?

It never explained why Benny had a nose bleed... I was hoping he killed the man who murdered his father and got hurt - but no explanation (at least in the version I watched.)

at the start of the movie in the hayshed he also had a nosebleed, so i think he just has incidental nosebleeds without any other ewason which is not that uncommon to have.
if it symbolizes something or if it serves any other role in the movie , then i haven't figured it out yet

I think it goes to show how unhealthy they all may be. Ben, being the youngest probably hadn't had a full and plentiful childhood like his mother might have had and his body may have created a sort of illness.

We've met before, haven't we?

At first I thought too that he had some sort of disease but seeing the other kids in the camp being totally fine I ruled it out.

So the only explanation is that his nose bleeds when he is really upset over something.
Like at the barn where he lost his bird he was crying.
At the end of the film I can't figure out what exactly got him so upset.
