will this film be released in the U.S.?

I have seen 2 of Mr. Haneke's films - "Code Unknown" and "The Piano Teacher" and loved them both - "Piano Teacher" especially. Does anyone know if this film is planned for a U.S. release anytime in the near future? I would like to see it, especially since he cast the brilliant Isabelle Huppert in the starring role.

It is going to be in Washington, DC in July. If you get a chance, see The Seventh Continent. It is hard to find, but worth the hunt.

one of the best austrian films.

Watch it if you dare. It's maybe the most disturbing movie I've ever seen. But not disturbing in American meaning of the word. There is no nudity or sex, what would be most shocking for Americans, especially if under 18. In fact, the lack of all human emotions, human reactions, beeing human at all (and sex and nudity are included in that) is what's most disturbing in the movie. If you suffer from ANY kind of depression (especially clinical) or EVER thought about suicide forget my suggestion to watch 'Seventh Continent' and AVOID it at all costs.

Otherwise, I would recomend also 'Benny's Video' to complete Haneke's depressive disturbance.

Well sir, I am an American and I know of nobody, including myself, who is shocked or disturbed by sex andf nudity scenes in a movie...IN THE LEAST. I don't know where that information comes from, but I know that "disturbing" movies in America are the same as disturbing movies in other places, too. Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, Elepahnt [especially] are all fairly distrubing movies and have little to nothing to do with sex.

I don't try to say that it's all-Americans attitude, or that these feelings don't exist in other nations. But try to find non-American versions of movies (you'd call them "foreign") and compare them to those released in USA, especially if shown on TV. American versions are quite often shorter than in any other country, and if you look for deleted scenes, they don't contain violence, mostly also don't contain horror scenes, but... Even American movies sometimes have European versions that are longer (you can guess why) than USA-released VHSes or DVDs.

I know, every country has its culture and tradition that have to be taken care of and respected. I don't expect "Eyes Wide Shut" to be released in Iran or "Color of the Night" in Saudi Arabia. But Americans try (in this site not that often, but very frequently otherwise) to proclaim their attitudes as only relevant for the whole word, and scream when Moslems do the same with their religion and tradition.

Especially when they come to America and try to force their way of life on others. Or when they come to America then complain about our traditions & lifestyles.

The American people do not go to their countries and try to change their way of life. can you imagine if an American family went to Iran and tried to build a Christian church? .. let that sink in before you answer with "what our government does" because this so called American Government has not acted on behalf of the American people's will since 1950's

America is more tolerant to other cultures, more so than any other country in the world that is most likely why there is so much conflict within her borders " if we can even call them borders any more"

Great reply! I agree with you in almost every word. Unfortunatelly, whatever you might think about them, your borders are tighter than Chinese Wall compared to European borders in 2015., and I think that, though America is incredible mixture of nations and cultures, in some of them still exists a certain level of xenophobia, so I believe that some countries like Sweden or Netherlands show more tolerance to foreigners regardless of their nation, color, religion etc. However, don't understand this as any kind of criticism, these are just impressions.

As for language, I'm rather suprised that they didn't use dubbing, because USA is one of countries where foreign movies usually don't gain much success even if released with English dubbing. Myself, I am happy to live in country where all movies are subtitled so I can hear original language, either because I know it and can enjoy the movie completelly (including things that simply can't be translated) or because I don't know it but is interesting to hear it. Also, no matter how successfull dubbing is, hearing original voice of the person who acts with his face, eyes, hands is by far richer experience than being deprived of his/her voice. After all, it is similar as if you could hear the voice of original actor but see some other dubbing face instead... However, this is my opinion, my feeling, and people who are used to watch dubbed versions probably wouldn't understand me.

Right on brother... I'm also from America I love nudity. It is funny as all get out to see the misinformed perceptions of what people think of Americans Everyday I read something new that amuses me more than the last .

Pretty soon they will be calling us all aliens from another world if they don't already ! Furthermore as far as opening in America this movie debut in America and grossed just under 65 K .

Perhaps they should tell the producer next time they releases a movie in the USA perhaps they should think of doing it in English since that is the dominant language of the land . Had they done that , this movie would of made ten times that much.

However the poster we are talking about is right about one thing Most Americans "myself included" do not like to look at children in the nude especially not in the way he was suggesting !!
