LOVED IT! *SPOILER*

Watched it on Veoh. Wow, great story. I felt bad for everyone. Lisa is an adorable little girl. I loved that Carol is such a spitfire. At times I felt bad for Andrew but glad Carol ended up with John.

I can't find it on Veoh!! Can you post a link to it?!

Sorry, I can't get it anymore either on Veoh. I saw it before they took it down. I ended up buying the Region 2 dvd because it is not out on Region 1. My sister who lived abroad ended up giving me her region 2 dvd player that she no longer uses.

sorry if this sounds rude, it isnt so please dont get mad, but how can you be glab about the fact that carol ended up with john? she was misserable, she didnt love him, she loved andrew and they were meant for each other... i'm so sad they didnt ended up together :(

Andrew was a selfish spoiled mama and daddy's boy who only cared about himself. At least John truly loved her. Andrew couldn't even show up at the registrar's office to marry her. That was a very sad moment when she was left at the "altar". Andrew never wanted to grow up or have any responsibility especially after he got married and became a father. I am also a huge Richard Armitage fan.

Oh my god. She never loved John. He didn't make her happy. Her heart and soul belonged to Andrew, and his to her. Their love was real love. When they were apart they both suffered.

The ending breaks my heart. :(

I have to disagree with that. I liked Andrew too, at the beginning, but then I saw that he loved Carol, but didn't seem to miss her that much while he was at uni. Then, when she came back, he became obsessed with her. He knew what her father did to her, but he didn't try to rescue her. When he realized that he was growing up, having a family and such, he tried to recapture the past. If he really loved her, then he would have looked for her. Tried to track her down when she first left. Then he would have seen how important keeping the farm was for her. He didn't see Carol. He only saw himself without her. At the end he kept saying, "Let's leave." So where would they go? What about Lisa? He's only thinking of himself. And that he would kill himself just because he can't have her. Not thinking of his son and wife. To me it seemed like the ultimate revenge on Carol because she wouldn't come with him. A cowardly thing to do.

John does love Carol and Carol cares for John. To me, they have the basis for a more lasting relationship because they are friends and they are tender toward each other. Plus, I'm think the only reason Andrew told Carol that Lisa knew and that it was him was because he wanted to hurt Carol and ruin her wedding day. John still accepted that. He still treated Lisa the same. If you notice, Andrew doesn't even acknowledge Lisa is there.
That's my humble opinion, at least.

I agree to all that staceyisu mentioned.

Andrew is a spoiled brat loving the feeling of infatuation and the resemblance of his love story with "Wuthering Heights" but not Carol herself as a vulnerable individual.

He knew about Carol and her dad and left her waiting at the registrars! How callous. He could have phoned her or could have sent a friend to tell her that he is not able to come (because he cannot bear the knowledge of Carol being violated by her father). And then he leaves her to fend for herself living with her father while he has an easy life at the university. How can this be mature love? For me it's puppy love on Andrew's side. Andrew sees only his own problems.

On the other hand John cares for Carol, for her dreams. Moreover her dreams and his overlap. He knows that Carol doesn't love him, but the possibility of having Carol in his bed and becoming the mother of his children (with respect to the Wuthering Heights there should come at least one female child to match Andrew's son) as well as managing his own farm is enough for him. Being himself not very experienced sexually he is able put up with Carol's distaste of all things sexual, on the other hand he will probably have problems to arouse her enough to overcome her fear and distaste.

I think, like Heathcliff Carol is selfish enough to exploit John's feelings for her for a long long time. I think she will mourn Andrew, her lost ideal love, for a very long time, perhaps forever like Heathcliff, though - or actually because - she had never a sexual relationship with Andrew. There was so much passion in this relationship that formed her memories since early youth. Thus, she will for a long time feel a loss when she compares passionate playful Andrew with shy bumbling John. On the other hand John gains confidence and Carol adapts to married life, so IMO there's hope for the two as a pair.

And then compare how differently the two men care for Lisa, the child Carol loves more than anybody else. Andrew nearly forgets about her, seldom acknowledges her, while John has quite a good and easy relationship with her.

I agree... I hated Andrew ever since he didn't show up for the wedding and then when he got married to the other girl.. He is a coward... Carol deserved to be loved and John did a perfect job at it.. not to mention I love Richard Armitage... He is soooooooooo cute and shy and he acted sooooooooo well.

I think John loved the real Carol warts and all. Andrew only loved the Carol that was fun and used to spend time with him reading his school books. Did you also notice when she came back "successful" it really got Andrew's attention. Like she became acceptable now she had money. So phony, just like his parents.

" Benny, you silly great fat article"

I agree with you.
I think they were really just holding on to a childhood fantasy of living happily ever after with each other.
I'm just sad that Carol couldn't reciprocate John's feelings.. and Andrew didn't really deserve to die..
