It actually pisses me off just a little bit, because now you've got all these "clever" gamers going on about how "Heather is crazy and killing people" aside from the fact that she wouldn't even have gotten out of the Mall whacking random citizens with pipes - let alone all the places she does make it to, it seems like a completely self indulgent interpretation to me, it's 'Isn't it great I thought of that?' For me, the first thing that it brings to mind, and more than likely the only thing it's meant to bring to mind is that Vincent doesn't see anything grotesque or monstrous about them, and that makes him grotesque and monstrous.
There's also the "Jacob's Ladder" interpretation, (a major influence on Silent Hill) you can look that up in the "Jacob's Ladder" FAQ if you've seen that movie. But It would mean Heather is dead
Also that freak Claudia thinks she's turning the world into "Heaven" so why the hell is there so much focus on his line meaning something different? It's completely in line with the thought process the cult operates under.
Just as a side note, if Heather was a spree killer, I don't think Doug would be walking around like: "Hey what's up? Let's hang out."
But yeah, despite a select group of people's reaction to it, it is a really great line.
