the score


can anyone please tell me where the score they used for this film is from? it sounds so familiar and i cant seem to place it. thanks.

I thought it sounded familiar too. As a score for another motion picture, right? I only caught part of the closing credits to this movie, but they mentioned the Carnival of the Animals, a musical suite by the French composer Camille Saint-Saƫns. I listened to it on Amazon.com and I believe it was movement No. 7 Aquarium. Composed in 1886, long before movies!!

Apparently other filmmakers have recognized its beauty though, because it was used in Terrence Mallick's Days of Heaven. Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Carnival_of_the_Animals says that it has been used in numerous movie trailers as well.

you might be interested to know that Saint-Saens actually did produce the first score ever written for a motion picture.
