Why haven't they made a Jayson Blair movie yet?

Anybody?

Probably threats of lawsuits/refusal to cooperate from Blair and the NYT.

I assume at some point a Blair movie will eventually be made.

The Operation Fast and Furious movie would be much bigger than All the President's Men, too. That's another one that will never be made.

The Times must NEVER be messed with.

It takes itself quite seriously.

Two reasons:
a) The affirmative action angle makes the Blair story too hot to handle.
b) The commercial potential appears low. There's already been another movie ("Shattered Glass") with similar themes, which did poorly at the box office.'

If a Blair movies gets made, it'll more likely be done by a cable network like HBO.

Edit: there is a (feature film?) documentary on the Jayson Blair affair coming out in March 2014:

Interestingly enough and as Blair's own wiki page can prove, when he was caught, everybody instantly associated it with the fact that he was black and jumped on the opportunity to blame it on the whole concept of affirmative action.

Whereas i don't see anybody accusing Glass of having done that because he was Jewish, nor did it stir up antisemitism in the media and political arena.

So i do claim that a movie that doesn't dirty the image of all black people should be possible to be made. I mean, they managed to make Wolf of Wall-street without ever mentioning Belfort's Judaism, so i don't see why we couldn't we make a movie about a black criminal without involving the race card.

Who's Jayson Blair?

If you use Google or Wikipedia, you will find out who he is.

There has already been a play written on Jason Blair. The Wikipedia article has a link to a review of the play, which is called "CQ/CX".
The documentary about Blair is called "A Fragile Trust: Plagiarism, Power, and Jayson Blair at The New York Times"
and is directed by Samantha Grant.

A few years ago I wrote a script for one called Frey'd, based on the James Frey incident (Frey was the writer who wrote two memoirs that were later exposed as fiction).
