What make is the brown car in the movie?

We were trying to figure out the make of the brown car driven by Dr. Malmberg in the movie. Anyone know?

It's probably an old Saab or Volvo (Old ones you never see around these days). Both looked kind of the same back in the '50s and there weren't alot of BMWs around ^_^. I don't know exactly what car it is but if it's not one of those it would be pretty spectacular.

The make is: Volvo PV (if it is the same car as displayed on the cover). You are right, you don't see too many these days. But in the summer seasons they come around (In Norway at least)... Beutiful cars!

reply

You're probably not referring to the PV driven by all the inspectors but to the Opel driven by their "boss" (at least it is an Opel, if my memory serves me correctly). Probably an Opel Rekord or Olympia or something like that.

It sure looked like a Kaiser to me.

The Volvos were, of course, the 444. (I owned a 544)

It's definitely a Kaiser.

I thought it was a Frazer, which is as near as dammit to a Kaiser.

What puzzled me is that If he drove from Sweden to do the survey in Norway then it must have been a Swedish car..but as it was pre 1967 when Sweden switched to driving on the right..the steering wheel was on the left when it should have been on the right

It's definitely a Kaiser Virginian, from about 1949-50. In addition to everything else that identifies it as that model, the hood ornament is very distinctive and unmistakable. How a 1949 Kaiser got to Sweden I don't know, but that's what it is without a doubt.
