I went into this expecting the worst kind of tripe and was surprised

Admittedly, the American playing Beth was terrible. Looking at her imdb page it makes perfect sense that is was her first and last film listed.

However, the Scottish-side of things (characters) didn't seem that bad. Honeysuckle Weeks gave a solid performance, despite her required interaction with the crappy American actors.

The dialogue was not spectacular, but I have seen much worse. As another poster mentioned, the last fifteen minutes made the film worthwhile. The story was actually resolved, something that many low-budget movies cannot claim.

Yes it was bizarre, yes it was naive, but it was a film about a pagan cult that made the American-form of fundamentalist Christianity seem extreme... and in that sense, I think it nailed it.

Also, did I mention Honeysuckle Weeks? It is worth watching just for her contribution.
