Not leave a good taste in your mouth?

None these type of movies are supposed to, but you can tell the projected emotion they want from you, and as a viewer you perceive and feel things differently or very similar to the emotion they want to extract from you.

i personally felt that by the end, there was much more negative when you look at all of it, even though the film tried to tell you most of it was good.

Agree...it's a kind of bittersweet ending...and the expression over Carlo's face is quite scaring...

Carlo's wife had cheated on him, TWICE, and she was just being a hypocritical b^tch.

His daughter was an outright whore ( but what a whore! ).

His son was chasing a girl that wasn't interested at all and he ended up blowing a lot of money because of her.

I hope Carlo leaves his wife.

It's not a lie if you believe it.

AND the money his son used to buy the hash wasn't even his. Did you notice that he used his mother's ATM bank card to get the money for the hash?

I have to defend the son and daughter a little, though.....Their parents weren't good role models. Both of them being so insecure and lacking in self respect...It made the kid's insecure and look desperately to things and people outside of themselves to build up their self esteem. This was very sad!

This movie left me a bad taste from beginning to end. And is not that I don't enjoy "foreign" films as the gringos call the movies produced in other countries. I love the good italian cinema but Muccino gives a bad name to italian films.
I have seen a couple more of his pictures: L'ultimo baccio (The Last Kiss) and Hitch.
IMO none of those movies are deeper nor better than your average soap opera.

At least we get to see some beautiful women like Monica Bellucci (even "disguised" as the typical housewife still looks beautiful), Laura Morante (hot as always) and Nicoletta Romanoff, a gorgeous girl.

5/10

BTW Gabriele Muccino younger brother (Silvio) is like a younger version of James McAvoy (only in terms of looks, though). aren't you agree?

reply

Interesting, I felt Muccino left it to viewers to feel and judge (or not), a kind of Rorschach test, revealing as much about us as about the characters and film.
