Story driven

I notice people saying that this film is not scary and whatever but I have to disagree slightly. Whilst other horrors like Ringu and Ju-On are scarier easily, this film has a powerful story that drives the film along all the way to the end. The tension in the film is good too and the few scares in it are well done. One of the better films of the genre in my view.

Totally agree with you brock. I can't believe that people haven't put this on their "best of" Asian horror lists. I've pretty much seen 'em all, and this has got to be in my top 5.

Unlike the Ju on and Ringu series this one has an almost classic ghost story feel to it and doesn't try to get away with not telling you a real story by messing around with non-linear event sequencing. It's not as alien feeling as some of the Japanese films because of the fondness for Western style settings and acting as well. The story is well paced and doesn't go for frequent unnecessary shocks. The musical score is beautiful as well, using classical strings like in old ghost stories instead of synthetic sounds.

I think the movie is poorly titled and doesn't convey the richness of the film; it makes it sound like a teen horror film. Some of my fave horrors are from South Korea (also loved A Tale of Two Sisters and WitchBoard) and shouldn'tbe overlooked!
