Sound Levels

Have you noticed that many of the films made in the past few years by non-major film studios have serious issues with sound levels. Many have the background music louder that the dialogue. The whispering is not "micced" properly. Maybe I'm just getting old but it drives me nuts that films like this cannot seem to get it right and I loose interest. Hire professional sound guys and pay attention when the tello you it's not right.

God I am so glad to hear someone else say this. I thought I was losing my hearing or something was wrong with my brain circuits that process speech. I am constantly adjusting the audio so I understand the actors speech. When I finally get it right music comes on like thunder and I feel that somebody will think I am a rock music-loving ninny who just can't enjoy music unless it's really loud.

I do notice that sometimes, but I didn't notice it on this film. I watched it on TV though, that may have made a difference. There is some kind of new TV that knows when there's dialogue and when there's sound effects and adjusts the volume accordingly automatically. It's kind of stupid they even had to invent such a thing, that they can't get it right the first time around while they're making the movie.

Tomorrow's just your future yesterday!
