The Vanishing meets David Lynch meets vampires

That's basically how I feel about this movie. I remember watching this back when I was 14 or so late one Sunday night on a movie channel. It had to have been around 11 or so and I was really tired I remember, but after catching the first half hour of this I was sucked in. For some reason, the movie stuck with me. Madeleine Stowe and Mischa Barton had a great mother-daughter dynamic going on, and I remember being completely freaked out when the daughter vanishes. In particular, the scenes at the diner are what stuck with me— all of the random people at the truckstop diner (honestly, how many diners in the middle of nowhere have THAT many customers in the middle of the night?) and how they all refuse to acknowledge that her daughter was there. Reminded me of something straight out of a David Lynch movie. Then there was the bizarre young couple at the vending machine... ugh, gives me shivers just thinking about it. Claustrophobic to say the least. I have seen the film a few times since then (mind you, I first watched it roughly seven years ago), and I still find it enjoyable and stylish.
