The Old husband Toots

In those times, that was how men were. It may not be his fault that he too is a product of his environment. All men were not this way as all women were not unhappy in there situations. It is simplistic too lump all men and wives in this category. These men had moms who may have not taught there sons anything different. If a wife, even in those times felt as this one did, then they still had options to leave the marriage if they really wanted out.

Did she tell him what she wanted, Was he aware he was not fulfilling his wife? We don't know.

We see things from the wives points of view on there issues but from the mans side there was lots of pressure to be the bread winner and raise a family on one salary. It's hard to do other things in there lives [Paint, Travel, and learn other things,] when this was what our society requires of them. So they are victims too.

This is a response from the movie and some viewers blaming her husband for her not having a life. Where are the films where it is shown men wanting out of this responsibility but are restricted as well. They had to keep silent in there anguish, there was no social movement behind them.

Just a thought for all when the next movie you view and this subject matter comes up.

I guess the easiest answer to that is that we have tons and tons and tons of films depicting events from a man's point of view. Of course all the characters in the story have their own motivation, but this film asks you to consider the point of view of an elderly woman who is not glamorous or rich, and the presence of a film that has that POV is like that of a rainbow striped unicorn with purple wings-- in other words, rare.
