Aria

Is anyone able to identify the stunningly beautiful aria sung over the suicide-in-the bath scene? (and indeed, the murder at the opera). It sounds very much like Handel but I have been unable to identify it - I do wish TV programmes would publish the music played in the same way as films do!

The aria is by handel: Lascia Ch'Lo Planga from Rinaldo and the other classical music is arranged by Michel Colombier.

So the Messiah 2 web site says - but it isn't. 'Lascia Ch'io Pianga' (they can't even spell it correctly) is the very well known piece of music played over the 'Harrods Sale' adverts. The web site hasn't corrected this and I'm still desperate to find out what the aria actually is!

Got it at last! - it is by Handel, Guilio Cesare (Julius Caesar). The name of the aria is 'Se pieta di me non senti'. Whoopee!
