Regret?

Does Simone regret sleeping with Annabelle? Simone said to...I think it was Mother Immaculata "I don't expect you to understand. I love her." Am I right? Is that what Simone said? Anyway, Simone said that before she knew she was getting arrested. Even after Simon gets arrested, does Simone still love Annabelle? Does Simone regret sleeping with Annabelle?

reply

Im sure she does...*SPOILER****************************************************

Because right before she's taken away by the feds, simone takes the buddhist prayer beads annabelle gives her and smiles at her as she cries and gets pulled away, that and the way she held the beads in the car makes it clear that she still loves annabelle. She probably does regret sleeping with her though or maybe she just wishes they were both smarter about it.

I see your point. I just wish it had a happier ending.

i know its a bit of topic but i was thinking
when simone said "i don't expect u don't understand..pause..i love her"

when she said "i love her"..i almost didn't hear it
i mean that was a powerful / important thing and yet katherin (director / writer) didn't dont focus on simon's face when she said..the camera was on mother IM. face

I actually think what Simone said at the end to Mother Immaculata was, "I don't expect you to understand. You never..." and didn't finish her sentence. I think she's speaking to the fact that Mother Im never understood her relationship with Amanda either and probably always kept them apart. And is probably taking a jab at Mother Im for being such a hateful woman, and clearly incapable of understanding love.

I think Simone loves Annabelle very much. Mostly because this situation, though obviously not desired, has made Simone a stronger person. She let go of her guilt and despair around Amanda (the scene where she lets the picture sink in the bathtub). And it goes without saying that Simone is now definitely "ready" to leave the school.

I may be way off track here but every time I think about Simone saying "I love her", I always imagine her to actually be referring to Amanda assuming something in the past happened with I.M, Simone, and Amanda where I.M halted the relationship. Although I know the title is clearly Loving Annabelle, it just seemed to me the story was about Simone's journey of getting to know who she is and what she wanted and by 'using' (lack of better term) Amanda, she realized her true feelings (all referring to the past).

She did say "But I love her" at the end and she was referring to Annabelle.

I know, right? How was that not clear?
