Who owns the Lone Ranger?

Does anyone know who owns the film rights to Lone Ranger, as of 2005?

Thanks!

I don't think that that's entirely true. Kevin Smith was forced to leave out all references to the Lone Ranger in his new Green Hornet movie, despite the fact that the comics state that the Hornet is a direct descendant of the Lone Ranger. This is because someone else does indeed own the rights to the character.

The Lone Ranger and associated names, characters, etc. are indeed currently owned and copyrighted, by Classic Media, New York City, NY. The previous owner was Golden Books.
