Alternate ending

yesterday i watched this movie again (may be some 6th time)... i thought the movie would have been more touching if the ending was not general hindi movie happy endings....
i mean it would have been better if hrithik and preeti did not get paired up finally..... i mean their own ways............
somehow they getting together in the end did not make sense to me.. as preeti was ready to marry some other guy.. and thanks to the writer that that guys did not turned out be a nice-good-humble-respectwomen type.......
what do u guys/gals feel...........

I just saw the movie and I'm not familiar with Hindi movies but from my point of view the ending was fine, with common sense.

I didn't like that either. She's ready to marry some other guy until he doesn't want her going into a war zone and then she's ready to wait for him forever? I never understood why they feel the need to add another love interest in a story like this. Them getting back together after time apart would be more interesting than her getting engaged and breaking it off. It makes her look unstable.

I totally agree OP. Life aint always happy endings and all loops joined, all threads connected. But i dont blame Farhan for doing that. You see if the end was the way you wanted it to be, then it would have appealed more to you and me. At least it would have made more sense. It would'nt have been the classic "Bollywood" "happily ever after" end.

But then again, Indian audiences in general would have rejected that end. The movie would have failed. Most Indians still require the classic "hero heroine ki saadi" crap. After all, the director also needs to make a living. If i had been in his shoes, i would have ended the movie the same way, even if i liked the alternate version a lot better. I would'nt take the risk.
