i saw this movie couple of weeks after its release. IMO this movie is the bravest movie made by any director in indian film industry.still this movie isn't apreciated by the masses as much as other melodramatic crap dished out in the name of hindi cinema. WHAT R THE REASON???
sharei agree, farhan akhtar is awsum.it has been directed beautifully.. i feel its one of the best movies related to defence.. but its a thought provking and serious kind of a movie and therefore was not a delight for the majority of the masses looking for escapist cinema.
i watched this movie on my freind's b'day and didnt luv it that much, coz this movie has very few light hearted moments. and second time i watched it on dvd and loved it thought about it.
so probably the masses look for fine a balance of laughter,tears and thoughts..just a thought..

I think the timing of the movie's release was off. The problem was J P Dutta's melodramatic jingoistic Line of Control which put people off seeing Lakshya which they thought was 'Another war movie'.

I beleive that his character had no depth. being just the Colnel in charge he only reminded Hrithik of his duties and had the little conversation about the leveled frame in the beginning, and through out the movie just gives commands, does anyone else agree with me? or if not completely agree understand what i am trying to say? atleast his flops Lal Baadshah and Sooryvansham had a story line
sharereason being we like to watch movies for fun also movie is escapism for us.majority of the crowd does not want reality they want melodramatic bull*beep*.they dont wanna know what actually happened in kargil except that we won.how many of us actually care about faujis except when a war is on?thanks to mr j.p dutta he has really messed up.this is a fact that whenever border and loc is shown to the jawans in any unit they do cheer no doubt6s about that.but hey those movies are meant for the masses and to sell whereas lakshya is meant for interlectuals.try and get ur hands on a movie called haqueeqat.brilliant movie far better than lakshya with good action hell its far better that the longest day or a bridge too far.i wish farahan akhtar had done a movie covering the whole war.i remember when the movie had come out i saw it at chanakya and half of the people were coming there to watch hrithik and the rest to escape.after the movie people walked out feeling sick or halfway lost interest cuz it was too real.hell i havent heard of any1 walking out of saving private ryan or the thin red line cuz the action was too real.i have heard of normandy veterans crying while watching the movie and later on went to spielberg to congratualte him cuz sum1 finally made a movie which truly showed the world what they had gone thru in the war.lakshya is a good film but has factual errors like soldiers putting camo netting on their helmets like it was shown in band of brothers.also i fail to understand why is hrithik wearing ammo pouch on his chest when he is carrying a carbine.the pouch is meant for carrying ak or insas or slr mags and not a carbine mags.check out the archive pics ull know.hrithik ahs done a good job and same goes for mr akhtar.its high time we should start paying attention to cgi.

Besides who wants to see preity zinta with short hair? And what was the deal with that stupid mountain at the end . OH my goodness, this movie was so dumb and pointless, contrary to its title!
shareI have the same question !! and i dont know the answer, lakshya possibly is my most favorite bollywood movie, it had everything to be a commercial potboiler, i saw it three times and was disappointed that it didnt do well, the movie and its songs have motivated me in my personal life and kudos to hrithik and farhan for creating a visual delight,
Its a pity that good sensible movies dont do well while cliched love stories which is the genre of almost every alternate indian movie do well, Lakshya released nearby the shahrukh starrer main hoon na which was big hit !!, although i think main hoon na was much better then shahrukh's recent ones but still i simply couldnt comprehend why it was able to do better then lakshya
