Anna is my favorite

She has a hard life, in a terrible moment, but was a good human being, a picture to remember.....

I think it's hard to pick a favorite because the film made that the social and political sorroundings were the reasons for the development of each sisters life and influenced their personalities.
if lotte would have stayed in germany she problaby would have died within a few weeks or, if survived until that, might have foung her death in the hard post-war-years due to her health condition.
And if anna would have went to amsterdam she problaby would have studied (what she already wanted to do in germany) and became an intellectual later on and maybe coming to a KZ because of political activities.
there a so many possibilities - it's interesting to think about it but I would hardly say I prefered one sister over the other since both were suffering from the same war in the same way (lost their husbands) and at the same time in a totally different one - in the end of the film you see two different women you seem to have nothing in common but are still twins and both tried to do their best with their given possibilies to help other humans.

Anna is my favorite as well, I mean she had a very awful childhood, yet she grown as a wonderful loving and peaceful human being. She also suffered a lot in the Nazi period, remember the nazis who tried to sterilize her, later her husband a simple fellow, trapped in the madness of war got killed, besides she couldn't have kids (something that she wanted a lot, because the battering of her uncle Heinrich), finally her sister hated her for almost her entire adult life because she couldn't understand that Anna could have fallen in love with a SS member. In addition her sister blamed indirectly her for the death of her fiancé. So much misery, so much pain for Anna, yet he never got bitter or evil.
What a wonderful human being!

I definitely don't like Lotte. I think she was cruel to Anna and indifferent to harsh life Anna suffered growing up with her Uncle's family. It was unfair of her to blame Anna for the death of David. She's a damned b&**ch!!!

Anna is pure love. Only a human like her could survive that life. But I'm possitive she'll be rembered by her nieces and their children as the kind and strong spirit she always was.
