discussion on rip off of of wonder years or not...

I don't think it is a rip off first of all. There are so many differences.
Some of these are subtle differences -- you get the idea -- but not a total rip off.

1: It was set it the fifties-sixties (if memory serves)
1-a: TWY is set in the sixties-seventies.

2: They lived in an apartment
2-a TWY lived in a house

3: The show was integrated -- to say the least
3-a: TWY: I didn't remember seeing any integration on that show

4: The father was a professional who was fun and kind.
4-a The father was an office worker who was mean and cruel and scary.

5: The mother was nice and stood up for herself against her husband when need be.
5-a: The mother was nice but did not stand up for herself against husband at any time.

6: The brother wasn't that much of an ahole.
6-a: The brother was an ahole all the time.

7: Was no sister.
7-a TWY had a sister who'se characer was botched and sent to hell after like 2 seasons.

8: The voice of Oliver older was not annoying.
8-a The TWY voice of Kevin older got to be annoying.

I am sure I have more.

Please remember to agree to disagree and to keep things polite and informative.

Um, Oliver Beene was meant as a parody of The Wonder Years. It's more of a comedy, but the similarities, such as the narrator, was intentional. It's not a rip-off, no, but it's supposed to resemble The Wonder Years.

Oh, I KNOW it was a parady and I was more than okay with that. So many people on the board are pissing and mooning over the fact that THEY think it is a rip-off.

Thanks, January.
