Do I have to watch the series to enjoy the movies?

I was just wondering. My friend has got a movie on DVD, but I have not seen the series and have no opportunity to do so.

Well, the first movie, I don't think it matters if you've seen the series or not. It gives some background on the characters at the beginning, so you don't feel completely lost. But if you ever do get the opportunity to watch the series, I highly reccomend it. :)

As do I, I've seen all of the episodes in Japanese. Most of them are great. I am a huge fan of Inu Yasha.

The DVD, at least the one from Netflix has a bonus feature that ties clips from the show with clips from the movie together to tell The Story So Far.

You may not need to watch it, though. Anything you don't understand your friend can explain in 25 words or less.
