who thinks they made Kikyo way to evil in this?

this is what they made kikyo look likes. A evil little bitch. Now I know Kikyo dislikes Kagome but come on! Kikyo dosn't just push Kagome down the well and leave Inuyasha to die! who agree with me?

Heh...I think it was perfect. ^_^ Kikyou WOULD be jealous, and the entire idea of Menomaru using Kagome like that would really hit some serious postal buttons, to say the least.

A part of Kikyou says "MINE" and another part says "NOT YOURS." ^_^

Plus, she probably figures he wouldn't die--he's Inuyasha, after all!

I agree with Selestia -- I mean, in the past Kikyo's shot him with an arrow (albeit with some persuasion), pulled a knife on him, and tried to drag him into hell. I'm kinda thinking that saving his life isn't real high on her 'to do' list. Yes, yes, I KNOW she loves him in her own way (though at the same time she also *hates* him in her own way), but seeing as she's one of the walking dead, her perspective on things like love is somewhat...altered.

Overall I thought she was pretty accurate, and she actually bugged me less than usual. After all, she did admit that she, Kikyo, shouldn't be with Inuyasha -- though that was right after she shoved Kagome down the well and locked her away from him forever...

"Inuyasha, SIT!"

"Feh..."

Actually, the only complaint I had about Kikyou in the movie was that they barely had her in it at all. Same goes for Sesshoumaru, and they are both my favorite characters.

And I think that sounds a lot like something Kikyou would do. I mean, come on, she's stolen Kagome's jewel shards before and left her in that pit while she walked off in one of the episodes, and pushing her down the well just fits Kikyou's character.
Also, she WOULD want InuYasha to die. She quotes "InuYasha, since I cannot join you in life, will you join me in death?" That way, she could die and then she and InuYasha would die together and her soul could rest in peace. "I died hating you, my soul cannot move from that spot." Is another quote. And, another thing, if you were paying close attention Kagome would NOT leave InuYasha, and Kikyou knew that once the well portal would be covered up, Kagome would never be able to return to her own time. She was doing it for Kagome's own good.

Kikyou, "Killed" him in the past, because she thought he betrayed her, but she still loved him, and had herself cremated so she could die with him, when she could've been saved with proper treatment. She didn't want to be brought back, especially since what remained most for her emotions wise was hatred. She first tried to drag him to hell, because she intended them to be in hell together in the first place, basically, so she was just trying to fix that. She pulled the knife on him because he treated her as though she was helpless, as though she couldn't possibly do anything to harm Naraku, when it's very plain that she can easily take care of herself. She was trying to make that clear to him. She knows that she can't be with him in this way, though, but she really doesn't want to be replaced. So her hatred is fading slightly, and is more jealousy, I guess. She's really a great character. I don't see her as evil. I think as Kikyou saw it when she pushed Kagome down the well (I havn't watched this movie since last year, so I don't remember the specific details, so please excuse me if this is way off of what it may seem) was sort of saying, "Just go away. You've done more than enough damage." She also in a way says that neither of them should even be there.

Just an offtopic question here- Does it bother anyone else how Kagome brings all these modern items, and shares them with people, and absolutely nothing is altered in the present? This just adds on to what I see in her as stupidity(I am a severe Kagome hater, but mostly the dub Kagome... Her voice is worse than nails on a chalkboard, man...) you know? For all we know, she could send a giant fish in a bear costume rampaging through Tokyo! (Ten points to those who get that referance ^^)

Here's another off topic question. Will Kikyou go travel to Kagome's present time? And if she did, what will be a senario of it?

Well it seems like the two timelines are separate in a way. At least that's what I think. But also, Kagome mainly just brings food, and she really only shares stuff with her little group of friends. It is irresponsible of her though because she doesn't know what could happen.

So don't watch the dub. The English dub of this show is an atrocity even by dub standards, and not just regarding Kagome's voice. The whole thing is just awful. I absolutely love this show, but if I watched it in the English dub i'd never have become as attached to it as I am. It's so much better, immeasurably better, in Japanese.

I love Kagome too and had no idea there were Kagome haters until I came on imdb after I finished watching the anime series. But it makes sense if people only watch the dub. I wouldn't like her either if I only heard her in her English voice.

Well, Kikyo may seem really evil, but she did it because She knows Kagome doesn't belong in the Feudal Era since she's form Present-time Japan. Kykio saved her really. For had she not pushed her through the well, she might not of been able to get through, or destroy Hyoga.

While it may seem really evil of Kikyo to have left Inu yasha to die, think about it. If he were to die, Kikyo could rest in peace, and spend eternity with Inu yasha, so wouldn't she want him to die?

Other then that, Glasgowgirl has a good point.

What d'you think it means you ignorant hick? I'm in the middle of a divorce D-I-V-O-R-C-E. Divorce

reply

Hmm, I sort of agree w/ glasgowgirl (excellent point, btw), but my main complaint is not that Kikyo was out of character, but that her presence in the movie was rather jarring. She made little more than a cameo, and had nothing to do w/ the overall plot. You're telling me that no one ELSE could've shoved Kagome down that well? Please. They just hastily stuck poor Kikyo in the movie for an extra dose of unneeded drama. THAT was what bothered me. She's a complicated character, and they treated her like nothing more than an extra obstacle.

P.S. Go to ff.net and check out Julia: It's all a dream's essays on Kikyo and Kagome. You'll never look at either of them the same way again. ( ;

No, dear, she pushed her in the well. Or if you like, gave her a little shove, causing her to trip over the side of the well, thus falling in it.

Kagome's annoying screaming is all thanks to the horrible Moneca Stori! If any of you have the RPG video game about the mask (Which I seriously don't get where the hell the mask is in that...) in the part before you fight the spider boss..that scream will seriously shatter your ear drums...

To over simplify, I'd say that they always make Kikyo too "evil". If you go onto a few anime chatboards, so many people are all about hating Kikyo. I don't think she's evil at all, just a little confused. I mean, considering the circumstances, wouldn't you be?

In my opinion, I feel that they actually did a great job with Kikyo in this movie. It's understandable that she's so angry and bitter. She doesn't want Kagome to be with Inuyasha, and at the same time, she knows she can't be with him either. That makes for an extremely painful situation, to know that you can never be with your love again. They did wonderfully with making Kikyo a more important figure in the film.

"That's the magic of theatre!"

reply

yess!
but they change kikyo's character in general in the anime/movies
in the manga she's sweeter and less cold. she gets emotional at times. they also made her seem way older in the anime/movies than in the manga.

in the anime/movies i'd never understand why inuyasha still has feelings for her when they seem nothing like each other, but in the manga i do.

Yeah I thought Kikyo was way more bitchy than usual in this movie. I know that Kikyo was pretty hostile toward both Inuyasha and Kagome for a while after she was resurrected, but in the anime she mellowed out after a while. In this movie she didn't do anything but be a bitch to Kagome, more so than I think she was in the anime (I haven't read the manga yet so I can't judge how she was there). Leaving Inuyasha for dead was a strange thing for her to do as well.
