The Pooch of the Baskervilles?

The most extraordinary omission in this disappointing adaption was the midnight hunt across the moor with the unfortunate girl as quarry. This was wicked Sir Hugo's awful crime, and the subsequent haunting draws on ancient legends of the Wild Hunt, the Wisht Hounds, furies on the scent of evildoers. Why it was left out I can't imagine - to placate the Anti-Blood Sports League?

If every man who was a bit nasty to his wife was haunted by the ghost of her pet dog, unto the third and the fourth generation, we'd be up to our ears in illuminated hounds.
