I think the movie would have been better if Aaliyah r.i.p played the role of Honey rather than Jessica Alba. Aaliyah was orginally cast in this movie but due to her tragic and unfortunate death, Jessica won the part...but i would love to have seen Aaliyah play this role as she fits in more than jessica does...R.i.p babygirl

She's amazing, and her dancing doesn't seem to thought about and robotic, while Aaliyah's dancing was too planned and 'counted' in most of her videos. Don't get me wrong, Aaliyah was an amazing dancer, but i think Jess was meant for that role! :)

I think Aaliyah would have been perfect for this role!! This was all her and it would have been a great movie for her. I like Jessica Alba , but when the movie first came out, she was doing an interview and she made it seem as though the movie was written just for her. Don't get me wrong, she did a good job, but I think Aaliyah would have been excellent in this movie!!

shareI agree with that, plus I believe the acting would've been a lot better. Unlike Jessica, Aaliyah had been a trained dancer for so many years, so I believe she would've brought authenticity to the role along with that street sass she had. :)

I agree babygirl_naz89. I loved Jessica in this movie and overall I love Jessica, but I think Aaliyah would have done a better job. =] And I feel it would have felt more natural seeing her in the environment that the movie took place in.
sharei totally agree with you. but i never saw the whole film because it sad to see that she didnt get to do it. I was readin about it and this movie was basically written for her.i think aaliyah would have did excellent because she is a GREAT smooth dancer and on her way to become an actress.

This movie just had her name all over it and I remember reading in a magazine that if she wasn't in in the music industry she would have been a choregrapher. Jessica Alba did a good job, but I hate that Aaliyah had to die, if only she could have stayed alive to do a few more movies.

It's such a disappointment that Aaliyah wasn't in this film, and it's an even more disappointment that Jessica Alba got the lead, okay so she can kinda dance, but I'm supposed to believe that she's black, I mean it just didn't look right. And the way she talked the "slang" was horrible...could barley watch those parts.
I figured Brandy or Mya would've been a lot better for the role, they wouldn't have to "fake" so much, it would've just came naturally to them.
Nothing against Jessica Alba, but this role wasn't meant for her...at all.
