This was one of my favorite movies growing up and I just rewatched! The one part I never understood was why Anna and the detention supervisor had to trade food? Is this typical in some high schools? Haha

I got the impression that she had detention before and when she had lunchtime detention than she would trade her lunch with the teacher (the way people sometimes do with their friends when they don't like what they got).

No one had to trade food it is just something done in schools. Kinda like how a friends sandwich may taste better than the one your mom makes every day.
