Is the Lions Gate DVD really 3 hrs?

I bought the film in France and found out when I came home that it was only 31 min., like this version:

Studio: Palm Pictures / Umvd
Run Time: 31 minutes
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0004Z32U6/sr/ref=pd_cp_d_0/103-6963009-0433402?ie=UTF8&qid=1191830490&sr=1-2&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_r=0VG25ZZDVQDQGP3JPSC1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=252362301&pf_rd_i=B0000A1HPL

It says on Amazon that this DVD version of the film is 151 min:

Studio: Lions Gate
Run Time: 151 minutes
[http://www.amazon.com/Order-Cremaster-3-Fast-Ali/dp/B0000A1HPL/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/103-6963009-0433402?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1191830490&sr=1-2

Can anyone confirm that it is true?

I recently saw this amazing film at a special screening and it ran in at almost 3 hours! The first half features the Chrysler Building and the second half is what is known as The Order at the museum.

But when I go to find it on DVD I can only find the second half, The Order - or the 30 minute version.

If anybody ever does find the full version.....around 180 minutes - please let me know!!!

THankS

No, that's the Order DVD.

When it comes to a full 3 hour release....don't hold your breath. Because it's never happening.

So Geoff - you seem to know what you're on about. You can only get the second half on DVD? The Order at the museum? And is it the full Order, or just the cut down 30 minute version?

Thanks

The Order is a separate piece shown within Cremaster 3 that is designed make reference and tie the other Cremaster movies into a cohesive whole. The context seems like a game with individual levels correlating to the five movies. I'm a devotee of the Cremaster series, but don't find The Order to be as engaging as many other passages from the Barney oeuvre.

Barney seems to have a distribution model for his videos that is based on scarcity, so do not expect to see much more from him besides this. It is certainly worth seeing, however, if there are no other available sources to view any Cremaster or Drawing Restraint videos.

Legend, you are a legend, thanks for that. This was the first i'd heard of Barney and went to see Cremaster 3 on a whim......and now, a week later, I still can't stop thinking about it! And yet I still can't explain exactly what I saw - part of the beauty of this series no doubt.

The UK DVD, which is released by PALM Pictures like the French one, lists a 31 min running time AND a 151 min running time.

Here's why:

The Order is, itself, 31 minutes.

On the disc you will also find an option to watch the Order from five different camera angles: i.e. you get to see the whole thing just from one of the Guggenheim levels (i.e. you will have the option to watch the hardcore bands playing. If you watch all of these (which the DVD presents sequentially) you will see another 120 minutes.

31 + 120 = 151.
