Beautiful film

This 15 minute colour short is about the beauty and sanctuary of painting and is based on a short story by Margaret Yourcenar, which I've not read. It is about a master painter called Wang-Fo whose life is threatened by an emperor, who was seduced by Wang-Fo's paintings only to discover how much different was reality. The emperor's disappointment enrages him and he decides to punish Wang-Fo mercilessly. I shan't say more for spoiling this wonderful story in which it is said the world is just a mass of confused blotches thrown at a blank canvas by an insane painter. The words are as rich as the imagery.
