Will it ever be on DVD?

I loved this show as a kid and I don't usually buy DVD's but if this ever came out I'd buy every season available!

Does anyone know who owns the rights to these shows?

I'm sure a lot of people would love to watch these again!

So did I as well! I remember watching this when I was a kid as well and think it would be great to see on DVD!

Unfortunately, this would be a logistics nightmare to get on DVD due to the fact that they would need to get every actor who appeared on it to sign off. There was also popular music used on the show. I suppose that could be replaced but there would still be other hurdles. I'd love to have it in restored prints but I doubt it will happen. There are many clips on Youtube if you look.

They're currently airing on ESPN Classic Monday nights. So far they've shown May 4, 1980; Nov. 2, 1979; Nov. 4, 1977; Nov. 5, 1980 and May ?, 1981.

Yeah they're airing them on ESPN Classic on Mondays and their showing a marathon tomorrow I got a guy taping them so maybe he will put them up one of these days on YouTube the full episodes.

I still wish they could be DVD but there's too many legal hoops to jump through unfortunately.

I would buy it in a second if it were ever released! I have no idea if they could get a clean transfer as I suspect the show was recorded to tape (as opposed to shooting on film like was done with Charlie's Angels.)

ESPN Classic doesn't air every episode in existence, they were playing some of more lost episodes like the 1979 one with Kristy McNichol but in the last couple of years I notice they play the same episodes over and over again and it's annoying. I DVR it every week in hopes that I would see an episode that they rarely play but that hasn't happened yet. They've never played the very last episode in 1988 I really want to see that one as well, I think I saw some of it on YouTube but haven't checked if it's still on there.

Hi Hello Larry,

I recently bought all 19 episodes online. Decent quality for being 35+ years old and a video to DVD transfer. I too wish they were released commercially. I am sure there are others out there who would buy the entire series as well.

As kgraovac said, I imagine a big part of what is holding it up is getting the okay from the stars who participated (or the estates of said stars, as we've--sadly--lost many of them). And the music licensing fees as well.

But for now, BOTNS is up--yes, full episodes--on YouTube. Just head over there and search and you'll find them. I've been rewatching all of them over the last few days.
